Security device options

Shinhan Bank Vietnam offers 3 options for the Security Device: M-OTP, A-OTP and OTP token.

1. Mobile OTP (M-OTP)

- We have introduced the M-OTP service which is enable you to access from your smartphone. It is easy to use and help protect you from online fraud.

- Mobile OTP (M-OTP) is a free service to create One Time Password & authentication for Internet Banking/ SOL application developed by Shinhan Bank.

- Applied for smartphone with Android & IOS only.

- You can issue/re-issue M-OTP in SOL App, without a visit to branch/TO.

2. Online A-OTP

- Online A-OTP is an advance software program to create One Time Password (OTP) together with the transaction code (transaction signing) to authenticate for IB/MB transactions.

- Applied for Individual and Corporate customer

- Applied for smartphone with Android & IOS only.

- You can use Online A-OTP to replace for M-OTP, OTP Token or A-OTP Token.

- If you want to change to Online A-OTP from M-OTP or A-OTP token or OTP token, you must use your current security device to issue Online A-OTP.

- If you loss your security device, you can not change to Online A-OTP by yourself and must visit the nearest branch for registering new one.

Important Note:

  • You must have at least 01 demand deposit account that has account password.
  • All financial transactions verified by Online A-OTP are required account password (except transactions within your own accounts)
  • Any accounts that are used to make transactions require an account password

3. Advanced OTP (A-OTP)

- If you have a demand on daily transfer limit ≥ 01 billion VND, we have introduced the security device A-OTP.

- A-OTP is a kind of advance security device to use on Internet Banking and SOL app.

To issue/ re-issue A-OTP, you must go to the branch with your ID/PP.

3. OTP Token

- If you can’t use your phone for creating M-OTP, we’ll provide you a Physical Security Device (OTP Token) which generates the codes you need.

- To issue/re-issue OTP token, you must visit a branch near you.

Discharge /change PIN M-OTP

To discard/ change PIN M-OTP, you can do it on the SOL App only:

Step 1: Log in to the SOL app

Step 2: Tap "Settings"

Step 3: Tap "Security device"

Step 4: Tap “Discard M-OTP, “Change PIN”

Step 5: Follow the prompts to complete your demand

Reset PIN M-OTP

If you forgot your PIN M-OTP, you can reset it easily:

Step 3: Tap "Security device"

Step 4: Tap M-OTP

Step 5: Tap Reset

Discharge /change Online A-OTP

Follow these steps below to discard/ change Online A-OTP:

Step 1: Log in to the SOL app

Step 2: Tap "Settings"

Step 3: Tap "Security device"

Step 4: Choose “Online A-OTP”

Step 5: Choose “Discard” or “Change PIN”

Step 6: Follow the prompts to complete your demand

Reset PIN Online A-OTP

If you forgot your PIN Online A-OTP, you can reset it easily:

Step 1: Log in to the SOL app

Step 2: Tap "Settings"

Step 3: Tap "Security device"

Step 4: Choose ”Online A-OTP”

FAQs

1. What are the common points between M-OTP and Online A-OTP?

- M-OTP / Online A-OTP is online security device and the unique security device of user after issuing

- Need to issue before being used

- Requires setting PIN when issuing and entering PIN when using

- Authentication method (the way to input OTP code) can be auto authentication or manual authentication

2. Compared with M-OTP, what does Online A-OTP require more?

- On Online A-OTP issuance flow

  • Customer need to set Transfer limit
  • Required to input account password

- On verification flow of Online A-OTP

  • Required to input account password or financial transaction
  • Online A-OTP generates Transaction code when making transaction on SOL Application/ Internet Banking. To verify transaction making on Internet Banking, customer need to input Online A-OTP PIN and Transaction code into SOL Application to generate OTP code.

3. Can customer use 2 type of security device at the same time? For example: M-OTP and Online A-OTP, OTP Token/ A-OTP Token and Online A-OTP?

NO. Customer can not use 2 types of security device at the same time. Customers can use only 1 security device at all the times, not only for Online A-OTP but also for all other security devices.

Therefore, after issuing Online A-OTP, the old security device will be discarded accordingly and Online A-OTP is customer’s unique security device.

4. Customer has lost/ reported lost current security device (M-OTP/ OTP Token/ A-OTP Token), can customer change their security device to Online A-OTP?

Customer need to have other security device in normal use to issue Online A-OTP because customer need to use their current security device to verify Online A-OTP issuance. Therefore,

- In case customer has reported loss M-OTP, customer can re-issue M-OTP on Sol Application, then change to Online A-OTP

- In case customer has reported loss OTP Token/ A-OTP Token, customer need to go to nearest Branches/ TOs to register new security device.

5. Customer does not have any account password, can customer issue Online A-OTP?

- On Online A-OTP issuance flow, customer need to input password of 1 registered account. Therefore, if customer register security device is Online A-OTP, customer need to register at least 1 account password at the Counter.

- In case customer change from other security device to Online A-OTP on SOL App, customer need to register at least 1 account password before changing.

6. Customer has only registered password for Joint account, can customer issue Online A-OTP?

NO. For more secure, customer can not use Join account’s password to issue Online A-OTP.

Customer need to register password of other accounts, such as Demand Deposit Account, Online Demand Deposit Account... to issue Online A-OTP.
